June 1911--Not only did the Coshocton mayor wield the power of a judge, but apparently, a fire department member enjoyed police powers and could arrest you.
According to the Daily Times, the fire department's Captain Ralston knocked a man to the ground while attempting to arrest three men for fighting and use of obscene language. Ralston locked up two of the pugilists, but the third escaped. Both men had resisting arrest added to their charges.
