Woman Jumps Into Well While Gathering Wildflowers

May 1900-- A twenty year old homesick, despondent woman ended her life by jumping into a well and drowning. The young woman, at home after leaving Oberlin College, progressively grew worse and had attempted suicide on a prior occasion. Then, on one fine spring day, while picking wildflowers, she threw herself down the well into eight feet of water. After desperate attempts to resuscitate her, the family notified authorities.
