3,000 Show Up For Tricky Dick Campaign Stop

March 1952--Richard Nixon, while campaigning for vice president, faced an enthusiastic crowd of 3,000 people in Coshocton. According to the Coshocton Tribune, Nixon said, "Let's throw them out, and let's throw out not only the communists, but the people who put them there in the first place."

Of course, communism still exists. Our major trading partner, China, continues to be a ruthless Communist bastion and it looks as though Fidel Castro may live another 175 years. I guess it's a pre-requisite that a political party must identify a "boogeyman" to campaign for office.
