August 1911--A Coshocton couple were denied the right to become married by a local probate judge. The judge denied the marriage license because he claimed the woman "is an imbecile".
Both the husband and wife wanna be's had been previously charged with contribution to the delinquency of a minor. Also, within hours of filing for the license, the would be wife swore out a complaint "of a delicate nature" against a Canton man, and changed her mind several times. The judge determined that the woman was mentally imbalanced and at one time had been legally declared an imbecile.
