I'm excited about boosting self esteem. If society spent more time on boosting our collective self esteem, I suspect the good ol' U.S.A. would be an even better place to live. Here's a collection of random self esteem boosters, courtesy of CTCN's overworked staff (myself).
- Ask your spouse to stop referring to you as "hey dummy" and start referring to you as "love machine".
- Do something you're good at. If there's nothing you're good at, live vicariously through one of People magazine's 50 most beautiful people.
- Proselytize the latest corporate motivational techniques to a captive crowd...namely your children and pets. They'll thank you for the tips...especially the dog. If you have no children or pets, there's always the tree on the corner. Remember, tree's are people, too.
- Recognize and write down your life's achievements. Make it challenging and write them down on the back of a matchbook. If that's too difficult, take up blogging.
- Think back to when you accomplished something new for the first time...like last week when you were able to tie your shoes on the third try. Hurray!
- Stop comparing yourself to Brangelina and start comparing yourself to the toothless schlub next door. See...you can feel good about yourself.
