CNN Announces Rumsfeld's Resignation

Wow...can this day get any better?

CNN just announced that Donald Rumsfeld, Secretary of Defense, has hit the skids. He's gone. Vamoose.

Hasta la vista, baby!

The story has now been posted on CNN.

This news is fine. However, I pray we do not have a repeat of the treatment of our soldiers after Vietnam. For those who lived throught it, they were called baby killers, spat on and in general deemed unacceptable to integrate into our society. This touched me personally and was clearly orchestrated by those on the left. They have never apologized. We should all bear a heavy burden of shame for what was done. Let's not declare defeat and bring our troops home as losers. Can we possibly shame ourselves to that degree again. Too many people in this country hold ill regard for the very people who gave them the right to vote on Tuesday. It absolutely sickens me.

I'm not certain how your comment relates to the resignation of Donald Rumsfeld.

Also, I don't see a correlation between Vietnam and Iraq.

I don't think last night's election has as much to do with Iraq as the pundits would have us to believe.

In my opinion, American's were tired of Republican rubber stamp incompetence, corruption and arrogance in the current administration. Everything America has stood for, including the Constitution, was being destroyed by a small power hungry group. The country stood up said "no more!" Rumsfeld is part of that group and he was offered up as a sacrificial lamb.

The shame is not in declaring defeat. The shame is in allowing innocent people, both civilians and soldiers, to die and be maimed for life. Why does a human life have to be spoken of in terms of a win or loss? Where has our humanity gone?

It seems to me the only people who hold our troops in ill regard are the ones who sent them into Iraq. Our troops are human beings; not an expendable commodity for political purpose.
