June 1917--Three restless area youth found it within themselves to enjoy a midnight joyride run by swiping the Morgan Run Coal Company's coal car train. After riding for awhile, the trio were returning to head up a different track when they encountered an open switch and upset the train.
Armed employees were headed to the track after hearing both the bell and train whistle. Upon arrival, they found the boys scampering away from the de-railed coal engine. The employees fired several shots, but were unable to capture the boys. The boys were later arrested and plead guilty to the offense.
